Give Me More! Belfast is Going Loco for CoCo!

24 April 2009
Hotly tipped chef talent Jason More last night launched his first standalone restaurant in Belfast's city centre. The chic new eaterie, called CoCo, is based on the site of Roscoff in Linenhall Street which Jason and business partner Yvonne Gray bought from celebrity chef Paul Rankin late last year.

The restaurant is sure to attract the hip crowd with its contemporary lounge bar atmosphere and restaurant menus featuring Gremolata crumbed asparagus, curry spiced fritto misto as well as ham shanks, duck legs and the very best of local seafood, cheeses and beef. The interior design, which was conceived by business partner Yvonne Gray, includes both textured wallpapers and bare brick walls as well as opulent fabrics, mismatching furniture, ornate mirrors and cool artwork including neon pink paintings and traditional portraits.

Jason (37) started out as a sous chef to the late Robbie Millar at the Michelin starred Shanks restaurant followed by a period under Michel Roux at the 3* Michelin restaurant Le Gavroche. His most recent project before opening CoCo was as one of the founding partners in the hugely successful No 27 in Talbot Street in Belfast which brought him to the forefront of gastronomic and foodie fans from right across Ireland.

Many of the staff at the restaurant stayed on after More took over from Paul Rankin, keeping their jobs. Jason said: It's really vital to me to offer the very best in food excellence as well as outstanding service. But CoCo is as much about atmosphere and I'm excited about the prospect of encouraging our customers to let their hair down with some after dinner drinks and cool music after their meal. Many of them want music and atmosphere but not the loud ambiance of a full-on nightclub, so I think the thirty and forty-something's of the city will love it!
