open joint show at Holywood's Whalley Gallery

27 November 2009

Eagerly anticipated by collectors of Steohen and Dawn's lively, contemportary pieces, tonight will showcase a brand new collection from two of Ireland's most dynamic amd forward thinking artists.

At opposing ends of the artisitic spectrum, nontheless Stephen and Dawn's art hangs well together.  A balance of both figurative and impressionistic, their styles merge with complimentary bursts of colour - so sought by today's  enthusiasts and art newcomers alike.

This year's show will be opened by Graham Knuttel. A nice side to the main event, the man himself will be on hand to sign his newly relased Limited Edition Plates (available now from the Whalley Gallery)

It's Glamour Time at IN!

It’s Glamour with a capital G as Northern Ireland’s celebrity and social monthly IN! Magazine this month hosts its inaugural “Glamour Awards” in association with luxury jewellers Lunn’s.

The star-studded awards, which aim to celebrate what the editor feels was previously untapped glamour, will take place at the Merchant Hotel on November 19th and will play host to several stylish and sophisticated ladies including TV presenters Zoe Salmon and Katie Larmour as well as model agency bosses Alison Campbell and Tracey Hall. The boys too, are not forgotten, with cool, dapper gents including several sportsmen such as former jockey Richard Dunwoody and internationally acclaimed golfer Rory McIlroy as well as football player Kyle Laverty and British Lion Stephen Ferris who are all in the running for some of the coveted prizes. And as the magazine often features interviews with couples, there is an award for most glamorous couple, which sees Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford compete for the title.

Editor Lisa Harrison explains:  These awards celebrate everything that is glamorous about Northern Ireland. Since we started the magazine last year we have profiled so many fabulous people and chic events and feedback from our readers shows that people are really eager to read about them, in fact they have voted in their thousands for our Glamour Awards nominees.

As well as the main awards, one lucky Glamour Awards guest will walk away with a superb prize package for the Most Glamorous on the Night sponsored by Victoria Square plus the event will also play host to one well known personality – Pudsey Bear – as the
BBC Children in Need mascot will also be on the red carpet in advance of the BBC’s national fundraiser the following day at the King’s Hall.

However those not lucky enough to be nominated for an award can still celebrate with the IN crowd, as Lisa continues: “We’re not just hosting the awards that night, because the magazine celebrates it’s first birthday that week too, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us become one of the top selling magazines in Northern Ireland within just twelve months by throwing a first birthday party to remember. There will be luxury holidays and other prizes to give away topped off with the most delicious Bombay Sapphire cocktails for everyone. And of course, the IN! photography team will be there to capture the best dressed on the night, so we expect the style stakes to be mile high!

Chic new restaurant, Bastille, has introduced the irresistible flavours of France to Belfast with its recent opening on the city’s über-trendy Lisburn Road.

Bastille will delight diners with authentic French cuisine served in an intimate and romantic setting - true Parisian style with all the warmth of the French Riviera.

Open 7 days a week, Bastille boasts a mouth watering menu emphasising simple and classic French cuisine with a modern twist.

Hotly tipped chef, Conor MacCann has used his creativity and passion for food to create the Bastille-style “pur et simple” offering which infuses his distinctive flair to produce something to satisfy all tastes and desires.

Restaurateur and owner, Francois DeDietrich is excited about the new venture:

French cuisine is definitely back in fashion with local diners becoming more adventurous and discerning and looking for a meal with a bit of personality. The taste of France is undoubtedly one of the most refined, classic and elegant cuisines and I think this will be a welcome addition to what the Lisburn Road has to offer.

A well executed French meal is hard to beat and at Bastille you will be treated to a magical combination of great food, simply prepared, exquisite wines and professional service.

Belfast is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city and there is a strong cohort of Francophiles in the city who I welcome down to the restaurant for a French fix.
