The Lady Boys of Bangkok are back by popular demand to Belfast this November – and this time they are adorned in fur coats and French knickers as they perform in their uniquely hilarious and entertaining show filled with glamour, glitz and surprises galore.

The all-new 2011 tour ‘Fur Coats And French Knickers!’ introduces 16 of the world’s most beautiful show-girls (who just happen to be men) in their home from home - Belfast’s Custom House Square - from 05-19 November.

Director of the show, Phillip Gandey said:  “This year’s all new show is an irresistible mixture of comedy, cabaret and raunchy capers, featuring Hollywood icons and living legends.

“Our ladies go to great lengths to make each performance a show stopper with painstakingly immaculate make up; a glittering array of designer-inspired, hand-sewn outfits; infectious choreography and sexy, but never vulgar, performances that are uniquely, The Lady Boys of Bangkok.

“Unique performances will come from outrageous ladies of pop Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and be careful that the entourage of glamorous divas don’t realise that ‘The Boy Does Nothing’.”

One of the most popular girls’ – or boys’ – nights out in the autumn calendar, last year was so successful that the Lady Boys of Bangkok director decided to take things to another level.

“This year’s show truly is the biggest and most fabulous to date with more surprises than ever before”, said Philip.

Ticket holders can make their experience even more authentic with a reasonably priced meal from Thai Master Chef, Miss Khanittha Pornngarm.

Philip continued:  “People can purchase a mouthwatering menu of inexpensive dishes from satay to delicate Thai curry which can be enjoyed whilst watching the show with a drink from our fully stocked bars, all under The Sabai Pavilion at Custom House Square.

“To top the evening off you can even have your picture taken with The Lady Boys of Bangkok or get a copy of our souvenir brochure.”

Colleen Quinn, from Newry has lost a total of 5 stone 1lb since she joined the Unislim class in November 2010

Colleen, who is ecstatic with her win exclaimed, “I’m in shock! I’m so delighted. I am getting married in four weeks, so the hard work has really paid off and I am so looking forward to stepping into my wedding dress.”

Colleen will celebrate her amazing new shape with £1000 of cash and some fantastic goodies from LowLow, Clarins and Benefit as well a £250 voucher from CastleCourt in Belfast where the lucky winner can fill their wardrobe with gorgeous clothes to fit their new slim line figure.

The panel of judges, Kate Smith, TV Presenter, Valerie Agnew, Unislim Regional Manager and Evelyn Hannon, LowLow Nutritionist, had the difficult task of selecting just one winner out of so many deserving finalists who, collectively, have lost nearly 30 stone. Judge Kate Smith commented, “Everyone who reached the final was an inspiration. It wasn’t an easy decision, but one that had to be made and we’re so excited for Colleen.  Although only one person could walk away with the title, they are all winners and should be proud of what they have done – it is certainly something to be admired.”

Fiona Sweeney Dairy Marketing Manager says "LowLow are delighted to partner this year's Unislimmer of the Year competition. Belfast FASHIONWEEK Debuts Competition Winner's Design

18 October 2011

Ireland’s largest consumer fashion event, Belfast FASHIONWEEK, last week/last month [delete as appropriate] announced the winner of its second Diet Coke Design Award at a buzzing finale catwalk show. Roseanna McReynolds, 21, a recent fashion graduate from Stewartstown in County Tyrone, had her design selected and showcased from scores of entries from would-be fashion designers from across the country.

Roseanna’s winning design followed the Diet Coke theme of ‘Love it Light’ as she took her inspiration from nature and in particular, the Glasswing butterfly, which is one of the lightest creatures on earth. The party dress design includes a combination of hand embroidered organza which emulates the patterned wings of the butterfly while the skirt was composed of black feathers, which are very much a part of nature and also a key theme on this season’s catwalks. And as well as a fantastic prize which includes a scholarship to London College of Fashion, Roseanna was also given the opportunity to work alongside Irish couture designer Una Rodden to bring the design to life in time for the catwalk at Belfast FASHIONWEEK.

Una Rodden said, “This is my second year working with the winner of this competition and it has been great to lend support, once again, to a young designer who is at an important stage in her career. I was on the judging panel for the competition and although all the entries were very impressive, Roseanna’s in particular stood out. She provided a book of homemade fabric samples to support her design entry and this showed us that she had a particular passion and flair. She had also clearly considered the Diet Coke brand identity through her choice of colours, so this was another bonus for her.”

Roseanna not only had her very own design showcased on the final night of Belfast FASHIONWEEK, but her dynamic, modern look also featured in a professional fashion shoot with photographer Khara Pringle, and to top this off, Roseanna was also awarded a mini scholarship to the London College of Fashion which will allow her to further develop her love and talent for fashion.

Roseanna said of the competition, “I had just graduated from my Fashion Design course at De Montfort University in Leicester when I heard about the competition so I thought I would just go for it! I couldn’t believe it when I was told I had won, it was just such fantastic news. I loved working with Una and her team and, although I say so myself, I think we did a brilliant job of bringing the design to life. The journey was then complete when the model opened the catwalk show in my design; just amazing!”

The competition was a resounding success last year and the judges were delighted that it was triumphant once again as Diet Coke Senior Activation Manager and judge Nora Torpey commented, “We received even more entries this second season and this encourages us to know that young designers are blossoming and developing, and the aim of this competition is to support that, so we’re delighted. Roseanna was a worthy winner and her garment looked so striking on the catwalk so we hope to see lots more from her as she continues to focus her efforts on her design skill. Given the positive response to the competition again this season, we would hope to bring something similar to the next season of FASHIONWEEK, so anyone interested should keep their eyes peeled for news.”

Formula Fashionista!

13 October 2011

In one of the car world’s most exciting and stylish collaborations, the house of Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini this year joined forces with Centro Stile Fiat to launch the fabulous Fiat 500 by Gucci, a luxurious and innovative fashionable car which oozes style and which will no doubt become the fashionista’s choice for four wheels this year as it arrives at Donnelly’s Fiat in Northern Ireland.

The collaboration celebrates 150 years of Fiat and 90 years of Gucci and represents a perfect synthesis between two globally known Italian brands. Both brands stand for attention to detail, quality of materials and workmanship and an overall belief in simple, yet refined elegance - and this comes across in both the interior and exterior details of the car’s finish. Available in superlative black or white – coloured with paint containing glass beads to make the surface bright and shiny, like a brand new Gucci handbag, the familiar red and green Gucci stripe also runs around the car’s perimeter to give a distinctive Gucci feel. But that’s not all; the details in the keys and even on the fabric and leathers in the interiors – which are embellished in the ‘Guccissima’ double G logo - as well as the Gucci signature on the tailgate, all add up to give a feeling of luxury, glamour and contemporary car design.

And now that Donnelly’s has signed the sophisticated new model up to become the official car of Belfast Fashion Week, the models are getting ready for their close ups – the new Fiat 500 by Gucci models that is!

We look forward to the year ahead when we will start selecting our next nominees for 2012.”
