SPARKLING SEASONAL STYLE: Appletiser StyleFIX Set To Take Centre Stage This Autumn

27 September 2011

Belfast beauties are set to take away all the new season’s top tips this October as the Appletiser StyleFIX road show rolls into CastleCourt Shopping Centre on Saturday 01 October 2011. The fashion and beauty tour exploded onto the style scene last year with an all-Ireland runway show giving fashionable females a fabulous free style fix. Proving just as popular throughout 2011, Appletiser has once again teamed up with Ireland’s top shopping destinations and is continuing the StyleFIX shows in Belfast this autumn.

Audience members at the event will enjoy high-impact fashion shows throughout the afternoon showcasing a whole host of the newest season’s trends on the catwalk. With a range of stylish stores, from Debenhams, GAP, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Wallis, Laura Ashley, plus many more, there will be something to suit every style and budget.  Autumn/winter 2011 will see the seventies trend continuing and the StyleFIX crew will be teaming high waisted trousers with elegant blouses for an effortless runway look.  For a fashion forward twist, stylists will be adding fur, leather harness accessories and a few cuff bracelets to bring the looks bang into the new season.  CastleCourt shoppers can expect to see some classy sheer maxi dresses and pleated options, the perfect inspiration for those looking ahead to the party season.

Those attending will also be able to sample delicious complimentary Appletiser while receiving free advice and mini make overs from top make up artists. There will also be hair professionals involved from the centre, so plenty of opportunity for ladies to get the professional look for a night out or the afternoon in town.

Stylist and show organiser Cathy Martin says fashionistas will have a lot to mull over while shopping.  “The autumn/winter season is now in full swing and the key trends will be easy to pick up in stores in CastleCourt.  The StyleFIX shows will give shoppers a chance to see the new looks together, get ideas on what will work for them and pick up their favourite looks for the rest of the season.  It’s time to fully forget the summer brights, as colours will be richer; think burgundies, spice colours, warm rust, rich greens and creams.  Match these shades with mannish shapes, tweeds and flat shoes for an up to date, powerful look.  If you are after one statement piece to update your look, I would recommend a Peter Pan collar or a cocoon coat to stand out with style.”

Denise Farrell, Brand Manager for Appletiser said: “Appletiser is a unique sparkling drink, made from 100% fruit juice and has no added sugars or colours.   It is the perfect drink for ladies on the go looking for a delicious and healthy thirst quencher and an easy, tasty, way of squeezing in one of their five a day.  The green Appletiser bottle will complement the rich autumnal colours and is the perfect pick-me-up as we move closer to Christmas.”

Camila McCourt, Marketing Manager of CastleCourt shopping centre, said:  “As a centre, we are thrilled to be involved in the Appletiser StyleFIX roadshow this year.  At CastleCourt, we pride ourselves on having a wide range of stores that reach a wide audience from young, tall, petite, curvy, those on a budget and those who want to flash their cash, so the shows will have someone for everyone.  2011 has been a tough year for the retail industry, so we are delighted to be able to offer this free fashion event to show that looking super chic doesn’t have to cost the earth.”

CastleCourt shopping centre, located on Royal Avenue, is home to a whole host of fashion and lifestyle retailers making it a great location for this Appletiser StyleFIX event.  Belfast is a bustling urban area and CastleCourt is the perfect city centre location for a Saturday afternoon event as young and old, families and couples all frequent the popular shopping centre.  The autumnal trends promise something to suit every age and body type and a free sparkling Appletiser is the perfect thirst quencher for anyone partaking in a hard day’s shopping trip.

The Appletiser StyleFIX tour visited Cork, Dublin and Sligo earlier in the year, and will be calling at Blanchardstown later in the month. Look out for the dates in a centre near you or log on to Facebook at www.facebook.com/AppletiserIreland for weekly updates.

Magazine readers will be invited to nominate a woman who stands out not just for her sense of style, but also for her achievements in her given profession. The ambassador award, which will be hotly contested by Irish President Mary McAleese as well as Hollywood actor Liam Neeson among others, is also open to the public vote. A full list of the seven categories and the shortlisted nominees can be found in the September edition of IN! magazine which is on sale now as well as online at www.in-magazine.co.uk where readers and celebrity fans can put their stamp on the night by placing their votes!

There will also be a prize for ‘Most Glamorous on the Night’ sponsored by chic Hillsborough boutique Candy Plum as well as an exclusive spot prize for one of the lucky guests in attendance.

Organiser and IN! publisher Lisa Harrison said:  'The event has been hugely successful for the past two years and we’re looking forward to yet another glamorous evening celebrating the very best of all things Northern Irish. In the past we have raised significant sums for Children in Need and we’re delighted to be doing the same again this year, so who knows, maybe Pudsey himself will make an appearance on the red carpet.'

Local designer Gráinne Maher's Pegasus Necklace displayed in Urban Outfitters

13 September 2011

Uber talented Belfast-based designer Gráinne Maher’s new design venture ‘Pluck & Devour’ is literally the cutting edge in style.  The beautiful laser cut, plastic Pegasus necklaces have exploded onto the local fashion scene, with everyone wanting a piece of the brightly coloured action.   The neckwear has recently beaten off tough competition to win the ‘West Coast Cooler Citra Showcase’, a design competition launched early in the summer celebrate the new Citra variety and to highlight the very best in fresh, edgy design talent in Northern Ireland.  As part of the coveted prize, Gráinne’s oversized, personality laden laser cut necklace will be on display in Urban Outfitters, Belfast from 20 September.
A trained milliner, Gráinne recently decided to expand her design talents and launch the jewellery and accessories label ‘Pluck & Devour’, of which the Pegasus necklace is one of the first creations.  Bold and unique, these statement pieces won the hearts of the Belfast public, beating of very stiff competition from both graduates and undergraduates – as well as newly established designers and design businesses in the fields of fashion, textiles, interiors, jewellery, accessories and millinery.
Displaying the eye-catching necklaces continues this alternative retail giant’s support of up and coming, edgy designers.  The necklaces are available to buy from Una Rodden Boutique and Candy Plum in Hillsborough, among other outlets.  A seasoned designer in her own right through her millinery business, Gráinne is also benefitting from mentoring advice to make this completely new venture a commercial success.
Gráinne was absolutely thrilled to have won the prestigious West Coast Cooler Citra Showcase saying, “I am delighted and completely overwhelmed that I have won the West Coast Cooler Citra Showcase!  The competition was of a very high standard and I feel really privileged to be recognised for my Pluck & Devour necklaces, a project of mine that is in its infancy. Hopefully this will give me the helping hand I need.  The top three designers were voted for on Facebook and I have been told that I was the fore-runner of this vote, so to know that the general public like the design too is just the icing on the cake.  It is always scary to step out of your comfort zone and start a new project, so this is a real confidence boost for me and exactly what I needed during the baby steps of Pluck & Devour!”

We hope that with our extra support this will be a successful season for the team!”
