TOP COSMETIC SURGERY COMPANY TO OPEN IN NORTHERN IRELAND

27 May 2014

Belfast is to welcome a top Dublin based cosmetic surgery company, River Medical, which will open its brand new clinic on the Lisburn Road next month (June 2014) following a growing demand for both surgical and non surgical cosmetic care across Ireland.

According to the most recent survey carried out by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, the popularity of cosmetic surgery continues to rise with more than 50,000* cosmetic surgery procedures carried out in the UK last year.  Breast augmentation continues to be the most popular, with over 11,000* procedures carried out in 2013, but liposuction saw the biggest rise with a 41%* increase in liposuction procedures.

However, although the clinic will offer a wide variety of cosmetic surgery procedures including the popular choices of breast implants, eyelid surgery and facelifts, it says the demand for non surgical cosmetic procedures including skincare treatments such as Thermage, Flaxel and Hydrafacials was up by 30% last year.  These treatments popular with celebrities such Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow, are encouraging both women and men to look after their skin and maintain a youthful look without going under the knife.  The clinic is confident its non cosmetic offerings will be a big hit in the north as it offers a range of revolutionary treatments which are unavailable anywhere else in Northern Ireland.

Aoibhin Cronin, Clinic Manager of the new Belfast branch said: "There’s no denying that more people are taking a greater interest in the way they look and the general view of cosmetic care has certainly changed over the past few years.  It’s now more accessible than ever before, it’s not as expensive as people think and, having spoken regularly to our customers, we know there is a demand for it.

“River Medical provides a very advanced service using cutting edge technology and FDA approved products.  All non surgical treatments are administered by registered nurses ensuring safe and superior results which continually exceed patients’ expectations.  Our clinic in Dublin has been very successful, with word of mouth referrals increased by 45%** in the past year.  We cater for a very wide market - whether you‘re an older man or woman who wants to target aging or other skin problems, or a bride to be with a wedding dress or honeymoon body in mind; or even a younger person who wants to invest in their skin – we have a comprehensive mix suitable to all needs.”

River Medical’s Belfast clinic will open its doors in May and all treatments within the clinic will be carried out by a nurse or a doctor.  For more information on the clinic and the treatments it offers, or to book an appointment for a consultation visit www.rivermedical.co.uk  or call 00353 16629106.

NORTHERN IRELAND'S FUTURE FASHION DESIGNERS PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS

20 May 2014

Some of Northern Ireland’s future fashion designers will showcase their design talent at an exciting catwalk show later this month in the edgy location of T13, Belfast’s Urban Sports Academy and one of Ireland’s most dynamic venues, situated in the Titanic Quarter.

The Ulster Graduate Fashion Show, which is being organised by University of Ulster students who are set to graduate this summer, will be displaying collections including knit, print, embroidery, pattern construction and more. The emerging young designers will demonstrate what exceptional creative talent they have, as they get ready to launch their careers.

Lorien Dullaghan, who is among the students organising the event, said it will be a great opportunity to celebrate the students’ impending graduation, as well as inspire others to get involved in design: “The fashion show is a great way to end the course with a bang.  We also hope that by displaying our skills and showing others what we have learnt through studying at Belfast School of Art at the University of Ulster we will encourage other young people to get involved in this industry.”

With the valued support from Dunnes Stores and Invest Northern Ireland, plus many more sponsors the evening will start at 8pm with light refreshments from Red Bull and Luci by Lambrini, along with a backdrop of amazing Freestyle BMX action from the RampRage Extreme Sports Crew, setting a distinctive tone for the night.

Following this, designers and models will take to the stage with each designer displaying their own theme for their collections in a way that expresses their unique and individual style. The models will be perfectly styled by make-up maestro Paddy McGurgan and their hair gorgeously groomed by Andrew Mulvenna.

For all keen fashion designers, a dress rehearsal will be held at 3pm and secondary students from across the province are invited to view the collections and meet the designers afterwards. This has a special discounted price of £2.00 and is payable upon entrance.

The fashion show will take place on Thursday 29th May at 8pm.  Tickets are £12 and are available from www.getinvited.to/ulstergraduatefashionshow, for any other information visit @uufashiongrads and hashtag #lovinbelfastfashion.
