It’s a double dozen this October as West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK reaches its twenty fourth season.

The opening show, featuring collections from local designers and designer boutiques, kick started a four day schedule of not-to-be missed events which saw runways erupting with colour and creativity.  

Taking place at a new home of Belfast Cathedral, guests witnessed some show stopping pieces from FASHIONWEEK favourites Blush Boutique, Grainne Maher, Jourdan, Cameo, and Akani as well as eye-catching ensembles from newcomers Bambino Children’s Wear, Angela Sloan, William Morris Eyewear, In_Chlomo and Ruby 67 Boutique.

Trends ranged from futuristic metallics, to texture clashes in fiery reds, bold burgundies and muted mustards. Feminine frills and ruffles were everywhere, giving a super feminine silhouette. In stark contrast, lavish leathers and PVC trenches also appeared in a massive range of colours, whilst a traditional heritage trend also took over collections with checks and cosy knitwear completing the look.

Following the stunning displays of local talent, FASHIONWEEK Director Cathy Martin said “It is so important to recognise and support local creativity; it is an honour that our FASHIONWEEK catwalk is the platform on which many of these local designers and boutiques choose to showcase their newest collections.”

Speaking of her first appearance on the FASHIONWEEK catwalk, designer Chloe McColgan said “InChlomo has had such a fantastic reception since the launch event back in August – I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for my brand.”

The high street show on 27 October sees the return of fashion favourites, Remus Uomo, Debenhams, George at ASDA and Boux Avenue, as well as a whole host of amazing looks retailers across the High Street, including TopShop, Karen Millen, ASOS, New Look, River Island, H&M and Zara in the Director’s Cut collection, styled by Cathy Martin. Bluebird Children’s Boutique (Ballymena) and Digg Children’s wear (Dungannon) ensured kids made exciting early impressions with their collections, while eyewear partner William Morris Eyewear brought specs appeal with its collections on both main runways.

On Saturday the schedule continues with a new event - The F Words – a brunch on the newly opened rooftop at Bullitt to celebrate Fashion, Fitness, Food and being Female, with speakers including Instagrammers Tiffany Brien, Kim Constable, Fiona McCarten (Gluten Free Fi) and Maria Rafferty (The Hormone Health Coach).

As usual the incredible schedule will finish in sumptuous style on Sunday 29October with Style Sunday at James Street South, in association with Blush Boutique and in support of charity Action Cancer. The four course lunch will have some fantastic fashion on show as well as a hair/make up masterclass between courses which will be held by L’Oreal Colour Trophy winner Lee Stinton, alongside Paddy McGurgan. Plus there will be an Illamasqua at Make Up Pro Store gift for every guest as well as West Coast Cooler cocktails on arrival.

Throughout the events, breast cancer charity Pretty‘n’Pink will collect funds at all shows to support women after undergoing debilitating breast cancer surgery or treatment. Action Cancer is the official charity partner for Style Sunday and funds raised with go towards their breast screening for women aged 40-49 and 70+ in Northern Ireland.

At the shows, ID may be required for audience members who look under 18.
